Firestarter is an illustrated book about the basic human needs and is a reminder of the luxury in which we humans live. With fire in the lead as a source of warmth, light and energy, this book tells a story about the origin of fire.

This series of linocuts is a representation of a Peruvian myth. In which a man named Takkea is the first to discover how to make fire by rubbing two sticks together. Takkea is not alone in wanting to possess this magical warmth. Birds attack him to get the fire, but Takkea stands firm. Yet he doesn’t not remain the sole owner. At night a hummingbird flies through the fire. This little creature catches fire and flutters around the world. This is how the fire spreads worldwide and today everyone can enjoy the energy and warmth of this special fire.
